Ruth Weigand’s work examines natural landscapes through the spaces, volumes, lines and forms that they consist of and their possible transformations. She is interested in the fragment and the abstract. During her residency she explored those notions by isolating and accenting natural motifs both through drawing and photography, as well as collecting material for future sculptural work. Tree rinds, stones, soil patterns were her raw material, which were worked upon in physical and conceptual layers, to produce a series of diverse works that portray a hidden, almost microscopic view of Amari region.
